The artist who was born in Arras and died in Paris, was a painter, engraver and lithographer who worked in both oil and watercolour.
Although seemingly not particularly well known in this country, he painted two portraits of Georgina, wife of William Alleyne, 3rd Marquess of Exeter (1825-1895), PIC947 & PIC536.
He also painted two very large canvases of their son and daughter-in-law, the future 4th Marquess and his wife, with their children, PIC772 & PIC774.
