A pair of octagonal Kakiemon deep bowls, late 17th Century.

The exteriors of the bowls, which are 10.5cm in width, are painted in orange-red, turquoise, cerulean, black and gilding with four repeated sprays of chrysanthemum, plum, peony and iris. The flat everted rims are decorated with trailing flowers within a brown upturned edge and each interior has a central five branch `snowflake’ floret.
