A pair of octagonal baluster jars and covers, Chinese, Kangxi (1662-1722).

The jars are decorated in underglaze blue and overglaze green, iron-red, yellow, aubergine and black.

The sides are painted with alternate figure and landscape subjects, below a straight neck bearing the eight precious objects (pa-pao).

The domed covers have further landscape compartments encircling an onion-shaped finial, 40cm high.
