A pair of figures of youths, Japanese, circa 1670/90.

Each figure, 14.4cm in height, is shown casually seated upon a drum, both hands holding tasselled cords attached to a double gourd bottle slung over their right shoulder, the decoration in the Kakiemon palette.

Listed in the 1688 Inventory of Burghley: “My Lords Dressing Roome…. China over ye Chimney…..2 figures with Juggs att theire backs.”
