A pair of Derby oval baskets, circa 1760.

The interior of one basket is painted with an owl perched on a bough, with other birds in flight within a parkland setting, the other with a pheasant in a similar setting.

The pierced trellis borders are enamelled with trailing flowers and the exteriors finely moulded with blue florets applied at each intersection.

The rope-twist handles are detailed in yellow and pink and are set with flower terminals; the scalloped rims edged in brown enamel, 29cm.
