A pair of bowls and covers, Japanese, 18th Century.

Decorated in underglaze blue and overglaze enamels, iron red, green, black and gold with song birds perched on the undulating stems of a lotus band, the flat rims with karakusa scrolls interrupted by flowerheads, the covers surmounted by shishi, 10.2cm high, 12.8cm diameter.
