A pair of Aubusson tapestry portières, mid 19th Century.

Each piece is woven with flowering plants and ferns beneath a trophy of flowers suspended from a scrolled arch, 265.5cm.

Aubusson tapestries and carpets have been woven in an area of Central France from as early as the 16th Century, when they became popular in royal houses and palaces.
