A pair of alabaster gadrooned urns, late 18th Century.

Each slender based, partially gadrooned ovoid urn sits on a square foot; one now missing a lid, 38 cm high.

The 1763 Burghley Inventory records: ‘The library…two white alabaster vases.’

The 1804 Burghley Inventory: ‘No. 61, Marble Hall, a pr. alabaster vase urns.’
