A Meissen musical group, circa 1745.

A gentleman flautist plays to his female companion, who is holding a song sheet whilst feeding an infant at her breast; sitting side by side on a flowering tree stump, he wearing a gilt edged yellow jacket fastened at the neck with a black ribbon, cream trousers secured with a gilt button, a key suspended by a ribbon from his waist, his gilt edged turquoise hat decorated with an iron red flower, his companion wears a puce apron over a skirt decorted with Indianische Blumen and edged in dark brown, a white bonnet with a blue band, the base encrusted with leaves and flowers, 14.5cm.
