A Meissen musical group, circa 1745.

A gentleman flautist plays to his female companion, who is holding a song sheet whilst feeding an infant at her breast, as they sit side by side on a flowering tree stump. He wears a gilt edged yellow jacket fastened at the neck with a black ribbon, cream trousers secured with a gilt button, a key suspended by a ribbon from his waist; his gilt-edged turquoise hat is decorated with an iron red flower. His companion wears a puce apron over a skirt decorated with Indianische Blumen, edged in dark brown and a white bonnet with a blue band, 14.5cm.
