A Meissen musical group, circa 1745.

The group is modelled as a gentleman flautist who plays to his female companion. She holds a song sheet, whilst feeding an infant at her breast, as they sit side by side on a flowering tree stump.

He wears a gilt-edged yellow jacket fastened at the neck with a black ribbon, cream trousers secured with a gilt button, a key suspended by a ribbon from his waist. His gilt-edged turquoise hat is decorated with an iron red flower.

His companion wears a puce apron edged in dark brown, over a skirt decorated with Indianische Blumen and a white bonnet with a blue band, 14.5cm.
