Oval, plumbago on parchment in an ebony frame, 9.3cm. Signed ‘Bosse’ on the lower right.
Abraham Bosse (1602-1678), was a French artist and printmaker. Hundreds of etchings are attributed to him, on a variety of subjects, most of which were illustrations for books. He was the son of a tailor and it has been suggested that this was the reason for the closely observed detail in his depiction of materials and clothes.
