The moulded breche d’Alep marble top above two deep long drawers, each inlaid with diamond cube panels crossbanded in satinwood.
With a shaped apron and cabriole legs with gilt bronze mounts ending in brass sabots, 87.5 cm high, 130 cm wide.
The commode was part of a bequest from Baroness Newlands (1857-1930) to her nephew, William, 5th Marquess (1876-1956).
Baroness Newlands was the second daughter of William Alleyne, 3rd Marquess of Exeter (1825-1895) and the wife of James Hozier, 2nd Baron Newlands.
