A Japanese bronze bowl, (koro), with accompanying wooden stand.

The bowl sits on a spreading base and is decorated with a dragon and a flaming pearl; the base with flowering prunus.

The dragon and the flaming pearl are often associated in Eastern art; the dragon signifying strength and power, the flaming pearl, variously symbolising wisdom, good luck, wealth and prosperity.

The associated wooden stand has four cabriole legs and a carved open work apron of scrolling foliate form, 19.5cm.
