A gold, enamel, garnet and diamond hinged bracelet.

This elegant bracelet was presented to the Marchioness of Exeter, wife of Brownlow, 2nd Marquess (1795-1867), at the conclusion of a highly successful three day visit to Burghley by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1844. 

A garnet, encircled by diamonds, is set within a design of interlaced scrolls and ribbons in pale blue and white enamels.

The inside is inscribed: ‘The gift of Her Majesty Queen Victoria to Isabella March’ss of Exeter Friday 15th Nov’r 1844.’
