The bottle has a double overlay of blue and pale green on an opaque white ground, each side depicting a cluster of bamboo springing from pierced rockwork, 5.3cm.
This bottle is very boldly carved in an unusual style.
The majority of glass overlay bottles are clearly identifiable as emanating from particular workshops, by virtue of consistencies in colouring, subject matter and style of carving.
However, this bottle falls outside the usual groups because of the depth of carving and the opacity of the colouring.
