The 7 inch dial on this early timepiece is signed Joseph Windmills, London.
The arch has a calendar dial, the movement has verge escapement and there was formerly a repeating alarm.
Joseph Windmills (c.1640-1724), was regarded as one of the finest London clockmakers in the late 17th and early 18th Centuries.
He made large numbers of bracket clocks, lantern clocks, longcase clocks and pocket watches, working in partnership for many years with his son Thomas who continued the company until his own death in 1737.
