An ebony altar cross, Florentine, circa 1680.

Set with panels of hardstone, including lapis and agate, the cross is applied with a gilt bronze figure of Christ, after Giambologna.

The pedestal base is set with a gold verre fixe panel of St. Francis, flanked by bronze figures of St. Peter and St. Paul, height 109.2cm, width 46cm, depth 21.5cm.
