A porcelain snuff bottle, Chinese, 1770-1820.

The bottle is decorated in ‘famille-rose’ enamels and moulded in the form of a recumbent elephant with a saddlecloth and howdah, the latter forming the neck of the bottle, 8.5cm.

It was made in Jingdezhen, the centre for the production of porcelain in China.
