A Derby part tea-service, circa 1785.

The teabowl and saucer are part of a rare Derby part tea-service comprising: a teapot, a pair of saucer dishes, four coffee cups, three teabowls and seven saucers.

The intense gros bleu and gilding of the decoration reflect the contemporary influence of Sèvres at Derby.

Each piece carries a puce crowned D; the mark used at Derby from 1782-1800.
