The figure, shown standing before a tree stump support playing the bagpipes, is a companion to that of a dancing girl (CER0672).
The subtle use of green, yellow and puce and of flowered jacket, for the piper, and skirt for the dancer, successfully links the two fluidly modelled figures.
Both figures stand on bases of simple flower-encrusted form; the precursor to the rococo scroll base.
