A decagonal saucer dish, Japanese, early 18th Century.

The dish is painted in underglaze blue and a version of the Kakiemon palette including, iron red, turquoise, yellow, black and gold.

The centre is decorated with two pheasants, one on the ground, the other perched on a branch of prunus in blossom, the base of the tree encircled by bamboo and tied rice sheaves.

The rim is decorated with scrolling flowers; the reverse with undulating foliage. The base has a square fuku mark, diameter 21.7cm.
