A decagonal saucer dish, Japanese, early 18th Century.

The dish is decorated in underglaze blue and a version of the Kakiemon palette including, iron red, turquoise, yellow, black and gold. The centre is painted with two pheasants, one on the ground, the other perched on a branch of prunus in blossom, the base of the prunus tree is encircled by bamboo and tied rice sheaves and the rim is decorated with scrolling flowers, the reverse of the dish with undulating foliage. The base has a square fuku mark, diameter 21.7cm.
