A champlevé enamel snuff bottle, Qianlong, (1736-1795).

The bottle is of rounded form, decorated on each side with stylised archaistic dragons enclosing a central shou medallion, the shoulders with detached lotus scrolls beneath a ruyi head collar on the neck, matching stopper, 5.3cm.

Champlevé enamels take the cloisonné technique one stage further, in that only certain parts of the decoration are enamelled, standing in relief away from the unenamelled body.
