A Chinese, or Korean, lac burgauté snuff bottle, 1800-1920.

The bottle is inlaid with two opposing panels, one depicting a pipe-playing man riding a buffalo and the other, a scene of rocks and trees.

Lac burgauté is the technique, derived from South East Asia, of inlaying pieces of the irridescent sea-ear, or burgau shell, into lacquer.
