The dish, which measures 22cm in diameter, is painted in the Chinese taste with prunus and chrysanthemum. In traditional Chinese culture, the prunus, which flowers whilst it is still cold, is symbolic of winter, of perseverance and of purity; the chrysanthemum symbolises autumn and longevity.
