A Chinese blue and white bottle, Ming, circa 1630/40.

The bottle, measuring 21.5cm in height, is of double gourd form. The lower bulb is painted with two men reclining in a fenced garden beneath a maple tree, the reverse with precipitous rocks enveloped by billowing clouds; a narrow band of scrolling chrysanthemum completes the decoration on the lower half. The upper section is decorated with two vertical Dutch tulips and precious emblems.
