An Arita blue and white beaker, Japanese, circa 1660-80.

Of cylindrical form and flared slightly towards the everted mouthrim, the vase is painted in Chinese ‘Transitional’ style, with figures in a formal landscape.

The decoration is executed in a watery blue, under a thick and irregularly applied bubbled greenish glaze, 22.5cm.
